Topoppgen type beats are a popular subgenre in the contemporary rap and hip-hop production scene, known for their emotional depth combined with powerful drum patterns. To make a Topoppgen type beat, producers focus on blending sad or atmospheric melodies with hard-hitting 808s and crisp hi-hats. A standout example is the free beat "SEDATION" produced by MP5DON, which is available for non-commercial use and can be purchased for full rights here.

Understanding the Topoppgen Type Beat Style

Topoppgen type beats are characterized by their somber, often melancholic melodies layered over trap-style drum patterns. These beats often feature:

1. Emotional chord progressions using minor keys.
2. Ambient pads or atmospheric synth layers.
3. Hard 808 basslines that drive the rhythm.
4. Dynamic hi-hat rolls and snappy snares.

This fusion creates a mood that suits introspective or storytelling rap verses, which is why artists seeking that vibe often look for "sad Topoppgen type beats" or similar tags.

Key Elements to Include When Producing

To capture the essence of a Topoppgen type beat, consider these production elements:

1. Melodic Content: Use piano or synth patches playing slow, haunting melodies.
2. Drum Patterns: Incorporate fast hi-hat triplets, heavy 808 kicks, and punchy snares.
3. Atmosphere: Add reverb and delay effects to create space and depth.
4. Structure: Arrange the beat to leave room for vocals, typically with intro, verse, chorus, and outro sections.
